DAB810 Supplementary Assessment

The main design idea of Tod’s Omotesando Building and Mikkimoto Ginza 2 is the special openings on the external walls, which I have been attracted with. I have learnt that the openings of a building can be different, can be innovate. In Alto Ito's view, the opening is not only can receive natural light in a building, but also can be the creative shape that produce attraction feeling for people.

The Parliament House Bus Station Circulation and Access

Access for people 

The main entrance of the Parliament House Bus Station is in front of the major entrance of the Parliament House. 

The staircase in the middle of the plan is the main stair entrance from the ground floor skin structure design. there are also 4 lift and a stair have been designed for entre to the basement level 2 space.

The opening of the skin structure is the major entrance for people to Parliament House Bus Station.

Access for bus

The Parliament House underground car park is designed as the Parliament House Bus Station, it is also designed to be the one of the main bus transport centre in Canberra. Buses go up and down underneath of the Parliamnet House, travel from city or travel to city, it is like a journey.

Strategy and Logistics

The Parliament House currently has over 2000 car park underground. Too many vehicles running on the road might cause air pollution and it may cause climate change in the future. The Parliament House should be the leader of environmental friendly in Australia. Furthermore, architects in Australia need to help parliament face the major topic nowadays, global warming.

The major point in this design is to improve the car park problem with the Parliament House. To reduce the amount of car parks instead of design public bus network system for the Parliament House, further reduce the probability of climate change is the key design aspect.
